Location Intelligence

Drawing by Roomba vacuum cleaners based on their geolocation. Intervention in private spaces where they are used as limits to create localization patterns and pre-design of the area. Artificial intelligence creates patterns of behaviors to delimit obstacles. These vacuum cleaners use Location Intelligence (it can also be called Location Intelligence): it is the process of obtaining a meaningful view of geospatial data relationships to solve a particular problem. The ability to understand or learn, or the ability to apply knowledge to manage the environment.

Death Trucks by Rigoberto Diaz Martinez

2019, VSW Press, 8×8 inches, 40 pages, saddle-stitched, open edition.

Death Trucks is a group of images ma in different areas of the United States that record the interiors of shipping trucks. Smugglers for the illegal trafficking of people have used these windowless semi-trucks, which can become lethal to immigrants who could overheat or be asphyxiated in the unventilated compartment.

Sanctuary City

Visual Studies Workshop

Project Space program from October 8-November 3, 2018

Rigoberto Díaz has created works that are largely about the physical trials of immigration. For his Project Space residency, Diaz will continue working on projects and with processes that he has been developing for several years and that need different cities for their culmination. In one he rides inside the trunk of a car while creating a form of documentation of different Sanctuary Cities. And his Death Trucks project is a series of photographs that are records of cargo trucks’ interiors from different areas of the United States. The so-called Death Trucks are those that are used for the illegal trafficking of people and can become a kind of gas chamber. The images capture the moment of being enclosed.
